Ancient Bog Oak: This writing instrument features a barrel handcrafted from ancient bog oak wood from Ukraine. The wood is radiocarbon dated at 5500 years old (approx. 3500 BC), independently verified by the Université de Laval in Quebec, Canada.  This oak has been lying for thousands of years at the bottom of rivers or in the layers of the ground at the depth of three to seven meters, devoid of oxygen. Tannin, which remains in the wood, reacts with the ferrous salts over the centuries, resulting in the wood acquiring unique physical properties: rich dark colour with remarkable firmness and longevity.  It’s a testament to the virtue, strength and beauty that can come with age.
