These hand-turned Patriot Stainless Steel redwood lace burl twist ballpoint pens with with machined and polished stainless steel hardware feature a robust design, smooth, clean lines and nicely balanced weight. Practical enough to be used every day yet offer a rich, high quality feel. The barrels are turned with exceptional grade redwood lace burl.

Redwood lace burl:  Native to California, the heartwood of redwood is a distinctive pinkish brown aging to deep reddish brown. It is typically straight grained with a coarse texture, however it can exhibit curly figure and it also produces burls, some of them quite massive.  A burl or burr is a tree growth in which the grain has grown in a deformed manner. These burls provide highly sought-after figuring for fine wood products. The heartwood is rich in tannins making it an extremely durable wood. Growth rings in old growth material are very dense. This increases the strength of this lightweight wood.
